Australian Embassy Consular Outreach & Passports – Chiang Mai


The Australian Embassy Consular Outreach visits to Chiang Mai in 2020 have been impacted by the COVID 19 restrictions. At least six weeks’ notice will be provided by the Embassy for their next visit date. please monitor the Embassy webpage – here for updates.

Passport Applications

Australian passport applications (& renewals) can now be lodged with the Honorary Consul, Chiang Mai – by appointment only. Please contact the Australian Consulate Chiang Mai (Monday to Thursday 9 am to 12 noon) on 091 857 6996 or by email – for information & to book an appointment.

Note – that you need to allow about three to four weeks for the passport to be processed and returned to you. Payment at the consulate in Chiang Mai is by credit card or debit card (with Visa or MasterCard logo) – an authorisation payment form will need to be completed. No cash or other credit, debit card payment is accepted.

Australian Embassy in Bangkok – is available to lodge passport applications and to provide notarial services. The consular services section no longer witnessing income or bank balance statutory declarations for Thai Immigration purposes. They no longer provide statutory declarations for residence certificates. See this page.

Book an appointment  – at the Australian Embassy in Bangkok an appointment is required for passport of notarial services. Please refer to the Embassy Appointment Booking page on our website for further information.

Notarial fees – these are legislated according to the Consular Fees Act 1955 and consular staff has no discretion in applying these fees.

* Fee Payment – Credit or debit card payment is required at the Embassy or during the Outreach.

Notarial Services – the Consulate in Chiang Mai is not authorised to provide notarial (document) services.
